Jo's Task//2 good pieces of illustration, photography, typography and Logo's

The task Set by Jo was to find to pieces of Illustration, typography, logos, and photography which we liked, we were also asked why we liked them and who they were by. these are my 8 images.I really liked both of the pieces of illustration many because of the face that they combined hand drawn and digital, i love how you can tell that both have been done by hand, but yet they still have a clean finish, i particularly like the image by Rafael Pereira, it is confusing, yet intriguing, and the colours he has uses are also very appealing.

I chose these pieces of photography as i love how they have a vintage look to them, the photograph by Jennifer Su is playful and looks "in the moment", the image seems to be alive in the sense that the girls looks like she is moving towards to camera to give a kiss. where as the other image by Dan Mountford provokes more thought, it shows a girl looking down to the floor, as of she is in deep thought. both images are double exposure so they both have two images within each, I like this as i think it shows more of a story behind the photo.
I have always really enjoyed this particular brand of hot chocolate, hey do strange flavours such as chilli and mint. The product its self is quite expensive and so probably appeals more to those with a higher budget. I love the colours and the Designs by Gil Elvgren in the back ground.

I also chose this Logo as I drink a lot of Pukka Tea , the bright colours and the logo make it unforgettable.

I liked this piece of Type as it uses simple layout and a simple palette of 3 colours and 3 type fonts, making it successful.

After showing these in the workshop on friday, we all looked at other people's work and different ways of interpreting and describing, We referred to DIET in order to evaluate each piece of work.

D- Describing, What is it?
I- Interpreting- What is it about?
E- Evaluation- How good is it?
T- Theory- Does it solve the problem

We then came up with 10 Effecting questions which we would use in the future to analyse a piece of work, these were our ten questions:
  1. In what context would you find it/ where would it be?
  2. What does it communicate?
  3. How was it made/ what technique is used?
  4. Why the colour palette used?
  5. Does the colour palette work?
  6. What does it try to do?
  7. Does it successfully do this?
  8. What was the inspiration behind it?
  9. Do you like it?
  10. Is it similar to any other artists work?
